COMPANY ProMaker is an Australian company based in Manly, NSW. The CEO of the company is Linda Clarke an accomplished business professional and qualified scientist. The company’s vision is to maximize the full potential of the sock. In order to fulfill this promise ProMaker has invested many hundreds of thousand dollars into the development of a new sock manufacturing process to produce its unique functional sock design which amongst other things incorporates a hidden heel pocket at the back to house functional inserts that actively provide comfort, stability and protection for enhanced foot protection and performance. This revolutionary breakthrough in sock technology enables a user to purchase the base sock and tailor the sock for their specific foot condition or sport, simply by placing the selected insert into the sock pocket. PRODUCT The Challenge The major challenge for the ProMaker team was how to truly maximize the power of the sock to produce a fully functional product that went beyond anything that had already been achieved in terms of delivering significant foot health benefits and measurable performance benefits in a sock. The goal was to create a technologically advanced sock system working at the surface level of the foot to compliment modern sporting shoe technology to unlock the ultimate in foot comfort and deliver measurable performance benefits. Research and Development The ProMaker sock development project began with an extensive research project to identify and quantify common foot conditions and performance issues that could potentially be addressed at the sock level. 1. Correct Shoe Fit UNIQUE SOLUTION After a great deal of research it became clear to the ProMaker scientific team that a dynamic sock insert system would transform the humble sock into a functional technologically advanced aid for addressing the foot health and performance issues identified. As a result the team developed a unique sock design with a hidden heel pocket at the back of the sock and a series of targeted inserts to fit into the pocket. Extra design features to hold the insert securely in the pocket even during the most rigorous exercise were perfected to complete the winning design. The special sock fabric used in the Smart Sock acts to draw moisture from the skin into the outer layers of the sock, while strategically located aeration channels encourage the release of both heat and moisture and a new form fit design prevents sock bunching.
